Who we are & what we do?
Cinco de Mayo Bar & Grill is locally owned and operated by brothers Crescencio & Miguel Alberto Tellez.
In 1999, Crescencio immigrated to Tallahassee, Florida from a small rancho in Northern Mexico on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Saltillo. In 2005, Miguel Alberto joined Crescencio in Tallahassee and the brothers soon discovered their love of the restaurant industry. It was also there that Crescencio met his wife Erin, a New Hampshire native, while she was studying at the Florida State University.
In 2007, Erin and Crescencio made plans to return to her home state to raise their growing family. At the last minute, Miguel joined them on their journey; a leap of faith that eventually led him to his wife, Asia.
After arriving in NH, the brothers worked for several years at a Mexican restaurant in Newington, making lifelong friends and customers, until it closed its doors in 2011. Crescencio and Miguel then took on prominent roles at two other area Mexican restaurants. Crescencio honed his managerial skills while working in Biddeford, ME and Miguel developed a passion for bartending while working in Rochester, NH. To their surprise, word spread of their new positions and they began to see the familiar faces of their Newington customers all over again.
The brothers finally decided to pursue their long-time dream of starting their own business and on December 13, 2014, Cinco de Mayo Bar & Grill opened its doors in historic downtown Dover.
When you visit, you’ll find Miguel entertaining customers and mixing drinks behind the bar, while Crescencio greets patrons and serves tables with ease and efficiency. Erin and Asia make a great team serving diners on weekends and together managing administrative and marketing relations for the restaurant. On special occasions, you’ll even find the next generation of restauranteurs delivering chips and salsa to tables. Grab a chip, say hello, and welcome to our family!
See you tomorrow, Amigos!
